Who are we:
Esperanza’s Sanctuary
is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit farm sanctuary and community hub located in Sky Valley, California. We are dedicated to advancing food sovereignty, regenerative agriculture, animal welfare, and environmental education in one of California’s most underserved desert regions.
At our core, we operate a working farm that rescues and rehabilitates farmed animals from local shelter systems while growing food, native plants, and forage crops using sustainable, climate-resilient practices.
Our programs include:
Community food access through produce giveaways and food forest development
Animal care and feed production to support livestock using on-site crops
Composting and soil regeneration projects using food scraps and manure
Educational workshops and fellowships in climate action, permaculture, mentorships in humane animal care, and animal training and behavior
Seedling and native plant giveaways to support home gardens, micro gardens, pollinators, and local restoration.
Serving a region defined as both a
food desert and a heat-vulnerable zone, Esperanza’s Sanctuary works to close critical gaps in access to nutritious food, green space, and ecological knowledge—while fostering a model of community-led sustainability that can be scaled and replicated across rural California.
